This week at King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy:
Term Time Holidays
Please be advised that term-time holidays are very unlikely to be approved. If families ignore this the absence will be unauthorised and you will be at risk of receiving a £160 Fixed Penalty Notice per parent on your return.
Last term, 36 parents have received Penalty Notices for taking students on unauthorised leave in term time.
Please note that, Birmingham City Council strongly discourages pupil leave of absence during term time. The expectation is that such leave would only be authorized in the most exceptional circumstance.
Please ensure that leave is taken in the school holidays only.

The trip will be £5 and travel will be by coach.
Students can bring spending money for snacks however please be mindful this will be their responsibility to keep safe.
The trips will open 12.00pm on 23rd October 2024.
Please confirm your daughters place on Arbor by 1st December 2024
With it getting darker earlier, we want to remind you to ensure that your daughter keeps herself safe when she is travelling to and from school.
A reminder that we have free breakfast club from 8am. Where possible, please drop / collect your daughter from school or arrange drop off / collection with a family member or friend.
Remind your daughter to be vigilant if travelling alone. Two ways she can do this is by keeping her mobile phone out of sight and not having two headphones in.
Please also remind your daughter to go straight home after school and to not hang around at the shops or in the parks.
Please take some time to view the letters pertaining to Attendance and Punctuality at King Edward’s VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy that were sent to you by email in September 2024. If you didn’t get the email, then we have attached the letters here too.
